COME ALIVE

Thank you for believing in us and what God wants to do in Ogden through Good Soil Church!
Our heart is to see people come alive in Jesus—because that’s what He did in us first. For John, that meant letting go of self-doubt and fear to receive the love and purpose only Jesus can give. For Bailey, it meant surrendering exhausting perfectionism and control to find true peace in Him.
We are planting Good Soil Church because following Jesus isn’t just about eternity—it is about living a full life with God here and now. That life grows as we sow into three things: a daily relationship with Jesus, deep community, and our kingdom purpose. We have experienced this full life with God firsthand—and we want to invite others into the same.
Northern Utah is one of the last great mission fields in the United States: The region is largely Mormon or not religious. However, there is a great spiritual shift happening: Record numbers of people are leaving the Mormon church and those without religious beliefs are becoming increasingly open spiritually.
We told God that we would say yes if He wants us in Utah—and here we are.
The need for a life-giving church in Ogden is overwhelming and urgent. We would love for you to partner with us in reaching this largely untouched region.
JOHN + BAILEY MEYNE

OUR STORY:
John and Bailey Meyne met while leading a college student ministry at the University of Georgia and have been married for nearly ten years. Known for hosting themed parties and competitive game nights, they love bringing people together in a fun and welcoming way. They are passionate about seeing others come alive in Jesus, adding value to their city, and making others feel seen and loved.
Good Soil Church is the culmination of all the dreams, values, and gifts God has given them over the past ten years.
MINISTRY EXPERIENCE:
John’s journey began with three years in college ministry, where he equipped small group leaders and cultivated a deep passion for discipleship. He then pastored seven years in the local church, further honing his leadership skills. Bailey’s passion grew from working with students and leveraging her professional background in social work and law. Together, they share a strong commitment to discipleship and community transformation, which fuels their vision for planting Good Soil Church.

OGDEN, THE HEART OF WEBER COUNTY, IS HOME TO OVER 87,000 RESIDENTS WITHIN A RAPIDLY GROWING COUNTY OF NEARLY 277,000 PEOPLE.
Ogden is deeply underserved when it comes to gospel-centered churches, leaving many without access to a thriving faith community. With few churches to meet the needs of a growing population, the opportunity and need for a new church plant has never been greater.

JESUS TELLS A STORY ABOUT A FARMER SCATTERING SEED ON DIFFERENT TYPES OF SOIL. ONLY THE GOOD SOIL PRODUCES LASTING FRUIT, REPRESENTING THOSE WHO KNOW AND FOLLOW JESUS.
Our mission is to see people Come Alive in Jesus.
At Good Soil Church, we will help people grow deep in an active, personal relationship with Jesus. We will also facilitate deep growth in authentic relationships, where people are known, loved, and challenged. Finally, we will empower people to grow deep in their kingdom purpose—coming alive in Jesus, bearing fruit that transforms their families, cities, and the world.

OUR MISSION

BELONG BEFORE YOU BELIEVE
Jesus invited people into relationship before they fully understood who He was. So, we create welcoming spaces where people can ask hard questions, build relationships, and experience God’s love—no matter where they are on their journey of faith.
1.
2.
EVERYDAY FAITH
Jesus lived in constant, intimate relationship with the Father, and we are invited to do the same. So we equip people to walk with God daily—cultivating a personal, active relationship with Him.
3.
EVERYTHING TOGETHER
Jesus’ life and ministry were inseparable from community, and He called His followers to share life together. So, we lean into community as the primary vehicle for fulfilling our mission, where authentic relationships lead to personal growth and collective impact.
4.
MADE FOR MORE
Jesus is the ultimate picture of who we were made to be—living with purpose and engaging fully in God’s mission. So, we help people discover their unique calling, empowering them to actively participate in advancing God’s Kingdom and making a difference in the world.
5.
GOD SHOWS UP
Jesus was confident that God was always at work—healing, restoring, and changing lives. So, we live with expectant faith, trusting that God will show up, move powerfully, and transform every life and circumstance.
6.
RADICAL HOSPITALITY
Jesus made space for all people, inviting them into His life and to His table. So, we open our homes and hearts, creating a culture of hospitality where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and loved.
Prayer
We will gather weekly to pray because we PRAY FIRST and we pray often. Each month, we will send out prayer emails with specific prayer requests. No matter where you are—whatever city, state, or country you call home—we invite you to join us in prayer.
Startup Parties
These startup parties are designed to help our team meet as many people in the community as possible. We will create fun environments and build relationships, so we can share the vision of Good Soil Church and INVITE people to join our launch team.
Launch Team Gatherings
The launch team gatherings are designed to PREPARE the launch team practically, spiritually, and culturally for the launch of our weekend services. We will focus on building the chemistry, capability, and the culture of our launch team.
Outreach Events
We are committed to LOVING Ogden. We will host events to meet the felt needs of our area because we value loving our city and neighbors. We will intentionally seek opportunities to serve our city leading up to our launch Sunday.
